    i am planning to buy a house, i would appreciate if anybody can suggest some good realtors in socal?
    I would answer this:
    The best realtor is the one who can give you some money back from his commission...:)
    Dont rely on the realtor to determine the home price for you. DO some homework...compare homes in the vicinity and come up with a price thats reasonable and mos importantly AFFORDABLE to you.

    take infopass and try to take extension on I-94 if possible or an official USCIS letter stating the circumstances
    also maybe flying west would be better over the pacific instead of atlantic....

    Chalk this up to user error. Not sure exactly wat I did but I reset the camera and now it is working like I would expect. Like I said...I was new to SLR :D

    Thqnks for the reply...whats interesting is today I called 2 different camera places by me and pretended I was interested in the same kit I have and BOTH told me that the 70s camera body supports the sigma lens' I have - In fact they were putting together a package that included the very seme lens'

    Im new to digital SLR's ...but I would think based on this info I have a bad camera body

    Thanks, I can see from your profiles your priority dates are 2006. If my first GC effort (Perm in Mar 06) would have worked out i would have been along with you. I still hold approved I-140 (EB2) from my first PERM. I have to wait till i get this new PERM approved and I-140 approved to port priority date. My lawyer says to port priority date to the new I-140, the new I-140 has to be approved i am not sure about this... after i get this new PERM approval, is it possible to port my priority date along with new I-140 application? or should i have to wait for new I-140 approval.

    yes, now we should all start calling uscis - atleast 10 times a day, open SRs, take 4-5 infopass appointments and maybe consider going to NSC or TSC in person to see if we can talk to the IO (or have a cup of tea with the IO) to expedite our respective cases.

    Who knows, if we do such things, we mite get our GCs faster than ppl already waiting ahead of us in the queue. :)

    I wud also take this oppurtunity to invite more EB3 ppl to convert to EB2 now....this way, u cud get a EB-2 PD back in time, when u were not qualified for EB2. And with all desi body shops, getting this done is a piece of cake, i would assume.

    Now boot me from the forums or give me all those red marks - i don't care. I wrote what was on my mind.

    Hello,

    Is the Nebraska Service Center fast or is there any other center that is fast. I am filing 140 and 485 together so kindly advice. Also, I would be getting married in 5 months in India and my Wife would come with me after that. Can I include her after she comes here? Is there anything that I would be aware off. Please advice. Thanks!

    better check with your immigration attroney for your situation.

    It is better to have all visa related documents including I-797, LCA, I-129, passport, w-2, pay stubs, current company employment letter, appointment letter, resume, bank financial statements, work experience letters, etc. call the consulate and verify the reqd docs before you go.

    regd AP, if your previous visa stamping is expired in passport then it is better to have AP when you go outside country for visa stamping. just incase if any problems with your paper and if they didnt stamp, atleast you can use AP to enter US. If previous visa is not expired you can come back to US using that at port of entry and you can go back and get stamping later. better check with your immigration attroney for your situation.

    If you use AP, you should use EAD to work. You cannot use H1 unless if you get H1 stamped in your passport OR if you have already stamped, you need to re-enter US using H1 at port of entry (but either case, you need to go outside US and enter).

    also staying in H1 is better compared to working in EAD (if AP used at port of entry) because if I-485 is denied in future, you will be considered as "out of status" when you are in EAD and you can't file for another I-485 because you are out of status (unless if you come under certain USCIS relaxations you can file again). But in H1 even if I-485 is denied, atleast you can file another I-485 because you are in status.

    some say if your GC is approved when you are out of country, then you need to use AP ONLY to enter US as they say H1 wont be valid if GC is approved but I'm not sure abt this.

    I am working in University in US and my I-140 (EB-2 Sch-A) is approved and my I-485 is pending. I have H-1B approved from March-06 but yet not stamped.

    I am planing to Go to India some time next summer.

    But before that I am planing to go to MEXICO ( MATAMOROS) for H-1B and
    H-4 stamping for my family.

    Do I need to carry any extra documents apart from those needed for H-1 B stamping?

    DO I need to Get Advance parole before going to mexico for H-1B stamping?

    Does the my going out of country with pending I-485 without taking AP will affect pending application of I-485?

    Your experienced advise will help me a lot.

    Visitor Visa does not tied to sponsor. One can visit USA with a valid visitor visa.
    But at port of entry, may need to prove who is taking care of them when they are here. They may need supporting documents from you at port of entry.

    My wife went to Vancouver consulate this morning for her H1 B Visa stamping (She is currently on a H4 visa). This is her first H1 Stamping and since we both are Permenant Residents of Canada she opted to attend the Interview in Vancouver Consulate.

    The Visa Officer who interviewed her was very rude to her and said he had to do her Education Degree Verification and put the case in Pending and gave her the Standard 221g letter (without circling any detials they need) but in the Other section he wrote as PPT (not sure what PPT means?). Also the moment she attended the interview he Cancelled her H4 Visa as "Cancelled without Prejudice" and he took her application forms and her I -797 and gave her the passport back and said the consulate will notify her in email about the update.He said he wanted to verify her education degrees in India and said she will have to stay there till the verification is done. The only lucky thing for us is we have PR to canada so the stay in canada is not a problem. Currently she cannot come back to US as her H4 is cancelled and will have to stay there till they reach the decision. Has anyone encountered a similar issue before and

    1. Usually how long does it take for the education Verification to be done (atleast approximately so that we can prepare for that)

    2. He has not even seen her Educational Documents and not taken them as well(All he took was the application forms and the I-797). So how do they verify the Education Degree in India(do they have to dig into the docs that she has sent when applying for H1B??). We do not have any problem in Education verification as everything is Real and Authentic

    3. Also since her I-797 is with the Visa officer can she go and ask that she wants to take her interview back in India and request for the I-797 back?

    4. If they deny her H1 B visa can she re-apply for H4 again or would this be a issue as well?

    Unfortunately this was a very bad experience for her and to top that the Visa Officer being rude to her really didn't her a chance to ask to more details:(

    Stephen Colbert on comedy central has turned out to be one of the most influential persons in the media. Along with Jon Stewart, Stephen is supposed to be one of the influencers of young minds for the last congressional elections.

    I am not sure if he has really taken any stance on legal immigration. I am confident that it is favorable.

    A question is whether IV has really approached Stephen. Lately, I saw Jack Welch on the show. Apparently, every congressmen who appeared on Colbert's show has won the last election.

    I am damn sure that a lot of law makers (or their staff) enjoy Stephen's antics.

    Stephen Colbert CERTAINLY is one of the most influential people in American Media. Especially after he made fun of Bush in front of him at White House Correspondents Dinner.

    Man if we (all members of IV) can kick start a debate on legal immigration and direct the debate in a manner that Sen Sessions can be brought to spotlight for his inconsistencies, it would be a major achievement for us. Colbert has been extremely vital in shaping public opinion for democrats this November!

    In a move that could ruffle a few feathers in the Barack Obama administration, American entertainment giant Warner Bros has said it will be outsourcing jobs to India.



    I think this kind of a thing is going to happen more and more in the future. If you cut-off H1-b supply, choke green card process for legal immigrants (would-be), throw spanners into the wheels of a slowing economy by ill-thought restriction-ist policies, how are the companies going to survive (and rake in the moolah for the investors, get fat bonuses to the CEOs etc)? Its just not possible to hire some citizen who happens to be lying around without work, it just doesnt work that way. Skill-set counts. Otherwise, we would have seen a lot more citizens (whites specifically) around our work-places (software/hardware development). It is not pure coincidental and only to reduce wages that one finds tonnes and tonnes of Chinese/Indian folks slogging around in tech offices. Around 2005 when our company (big storage giant) was trying to hire for our Software development team, we couldnt find many candidates even to interview for regular Network programming (C/C++ types) jobs..so we had to go and hire an entry level graduate (MS), a white guy who had no programming skills (was a Project Mgr earlier, and looking for job) and another Developer from Canada. Ofcourse, I didnt even clear the guy with no programming skills but my manager took him anyway as we were not even finding folks to interview..and the guy left after a couple of months unable to cope with programming related challenges..Long story short, you need the right set of people to work the right set of jobs!

    This is something that idiots like Grasslet/Sessions/King etc will never understand. All they are trying to do is pander to a particular vote base and thats what they will continue to do.

    I am in the same boat.

    I applied I-140 in premium processing(Labor applied Apr 2004, Approved Jan 2007). Got RFE to show 5 yrs of exp. My Lawyer replied to RFE on 26th July and USCIS received the documents on 30th of July 2007.

    The problem is that USCIS site is showing that they will take upto 60 days to reply. Though I have applied in Premium processing but I guess they answer queries in normal time.

    There is a 50-50 chance of getting my RFE cleared. Please suggest:

    1. Can I file I-485 before 17th Aug ?
    2. If I can, do I have to pay old Fees ?
    3. Can I file without medical ?

    Please guide ?

    How she filed your I-485 ?

    My daughter is now 22 years old and filed I-485 on behalf of me in the year 2007. That time she was only 19 years.

    Now she is planning to get married before getting a green card. Her bride-groom is H-1 visa and not applied for labor. Will her I- 485 application be cancelled?.

    I am also porting to eb-2 in the next three months. I am hoping to get green card may be after Sept 2011.

    Suppose she gets married before the green card what will happend to her case. Please I need advise.

    I need your input.
    My PD was Feb 2006-EB2.
    I changed job on June 22nd to another company using EAD. Now the PD has become current for Aug.My old company and the new company are in different cities but it is the same state.

    I was planning to apply for AC-21 but i have not gotten consistent pay checks yet. My first check was a partial check. I will have 2 consistent paychecks by Aug 15th.

    1) Is it safe to just wait and see if i get a 485 approval without alerting USCIS about my job change?
    I am thinking since the job change is very recent they might not know about this job change.

    2) If they denied my 485 application for any reason ,can i continue to work while i apply for "reconsidering my 485 application" and file AC-21 with the new company?

    Please advice what you think about this. Basically i am trying to "not rock the boat" and raise suspicion and more RFEs by notifying them about this very recent change.

    You are not obligated to inform USCIS about job change. So do not worry about that part.

    Hi everyone,
    I have a related question. I am a canadian citizen now and am still maintaining an H1b. My H1b stamp had expired in 2007 though.

    I had applied for AP in january but its still pending at NSC.
    Now I have to go to India for my brother's marriage.

    My question to you all is-Since I am still on H1B (and If am not wrong, canadian citizens do not require H1B stamps)-- will it be ok if I travel without an AP.
