Hi, continuing the same line of discussion, I have a slightly different question. Assuming the insurance company does not reimburse us for 485 medical exams, then can we atleast seek tax rebate on this expenditure? In other words, are the medical expenses incurred for 485 filing deductible at the time of tax filing?

It will reduce net pay for citizens of countries without totalization agreements with India, specially because the EPF contribution in India applies to total gross pay without any upper limit.

I can't find any reference on this forum to E2 investors. We are the skilled, motivated entrepreneurs who come here, invest heavily, employ citizens and have no path to permanent residence. Our children must return to their country of origin at age 21, regardless of how long they have lived here. We ourselves must renew our visas regularly and live in fear of denial.
E2 investors need support in our quest for reform. Is there any room in your organization for us? We will go anywhere and do anything to raise awareness of the injustice of the current immigration laws. The DREAM Act was (thankfully) defeated yet again and should continue to be defeated until it includes all immigrant children, not just illegals.
Those of us who come here legally should be at the top of the list when it comes to reform. Can we band together to make our voice even louder?

Hi
I hold a H1b Visa but did not work after coming to US.
Can anybody guide me regarding my current status.
My H1 was approved in 2007 quota and i entered US in march 2008..but was not successful in getting a job and my employer is not running any payroll..
can anybody help me with this??

There are people from EB3 with PD from 2001 ( yeah, TWO THOUSAND AND ONE) who are maintaining their EB status diligently by having a steady job and waiting and waiting and waiting for their GC to come.
Now, you coolly come and say what you have just said and have the gall to ask for advice.
The same applies to other poster 'nehas' also who had a similar question.

My wife is in a similar situation. I-94 validity matches passport expiry (Dec 2008) , but H1 visa stamp is until Mar 2010. She has a new passport, but we are not sure if she will be out of status if she does not get a new I-94 and stays in the country beyond Dec 2008.

Hi All
Cheques were encashed for my and my wife's I-485, I-765, I-131 application.
I have received the receipt numbers for all from the back of the cheques.
When I access the receipt number for one of the I-765 Uscis shows the following update :
On September 19, 2007, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION and request that we waive the filing fee. We have waived the filing fee and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

have you talked to a lawyer. If i am not wrong you have also used AC-21. Do you think revocation/withdrawal of the H-1B, will affect 485 in any way.

My attorney tells me they don't give employees copies of labor applications.

Why dont you put a counter in the excel sheet based on the pending cases, will know how many people are in line to get approval.
I observed this repeatedly, a gmail user "prakashnetmkt" has been deleting all data repeatedly and I believe intentionally. I have reverted back to the old revision again.
I have modified some permissions, so now you do have to login to be able to edit. Still it is easy to mess up the data if you want t

Nothing in this bill talks about the increasing EB VISA numbers but they have clause for the family based VISA numbers to about 1Million.I know Mr.Obama would bring "change" but it is not going to be good for us. Anytime he talked about legal immigration, he only made references to family based immigration backlogs. Never have I heard him talk about EB VISA backlogs.I think we are in for a change which not going be so good after all.

Unless of course you are an illegal maid from El Salvador, in which case you can apply for your green card in person at any USCIS window by 9 am, and pick up your green card by 4 pm the same day. You have the option of premium processing, where if you pay $5 extra, you get along with your green card a U.S. passport, voters regsitration card, perpetual drivers license and a pack of "Hershey's Kisses" (or an actual kiss from the USCIS officer, your choice)

sent to USCIS Texas on June 29, received on JUly 2nd at 10:25 AM. no receipts and no checks cashed yet. the USCIS receipting notice Texas said that they have finished receipting July 2 appl. what happened to our appl then?
pls anyone who filed july 2 at texas and with the same info who got their cks cashed and receipts rec, kindly share here. tnx!

Your mention of 30 miles maximum, I believe, refers to distance to your work place. It is a lot of distance to commute at rush time. Nevertheless, Ferederick County is your best bet, where a small SFH or a good size TH can be found for your price.
BTW, why do you need "Lots of Indians". Don't you want to be part of the main stream if you have decided to live here?
I want to purchase an house in Washington DC/MD/VA. My office is close to Rockville. Please recommend the best place to buy an house based on the following criteria.
1> Very good school district
2> Low property tax
3> Very low crime rate
4> Rental value should be same as mortgage amount+insurance+PMI+property tax
5> Property values should be in 300K range max
6> Lot of Indians
9> Maximum distance to DC should not exceed 30 miles
10> Close to shopping places
