So I just read up a little on what happened at the Natal/Kinect press conference.
Basically:
- They had everyone put on white plastic ponchos. (Kool-aid, anyone?)
- They had a flying couch and a fake elephant.
- They showed some horrible casual games that had people jumping around their living rooms like spastic idiots.
- They assume that no one has coffee tables.
- They're releasing EyePet and Wii Sports.
- They invented Skype.
Wow, quite an event. I imagine this one will be talked about for quite awhile. :D
Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Microsoft/Xbox in general. But this was just beyond ridiculous. Then again, I'm not really expecting Sony to do much better with "Move". A little, hopefully, but not much. :)

I would also suggest better suited than Americans to face a future where cooperation, both nationally and internationally, will become a more valued and necessary trait.
If you're speaking about politician's ability to cooperate is a valued trait and many others are better suited, but if you're talking about regular americans and their ability cooperate during tough times all you have to do is look to the out-pouring of goodwill in the aftermath of 9/11. Japanese politicians are just as bureaucratic and divisive as american politicians if not more.
Otherwise the connection between what americans could or would do in the future in regards to cooperation and the penchant for the japanese to behave during a time of crisis is a bit flimsy.

2: The masses. They don't care about the Big Club because they are too busy watching cheap TV-entertainment while consuming their microwaved dinners - just a modern version of the classical "bread and circus".
I am genuinely sickened and offended by your statement there... As I find it horribly depressing, and ominously true.

And here I thought Jon was smart and would find out the details of this story before "reporting" it.
Funny segment, disappointed in lack of research.
He seemed to have several details wrong and omitted others altogether. Interesting that he chose to sacrifice some facts in preference for commentary that resonates less if you have followed the story closely.
Few seem to understand the potential impact to Apple's business that relies on some level of secrecy to innovate on the scale they do.

Xserve lags so far behind the Mac Pro in release, costs much more, has little to make it better and just as much to make it worse. I would love to have an Xserve, but I don't understand why anyone would buy one.

I will upgrade if the bottom line of the new generation will outperform the iMac of the top line of the series I have (mid 2010).
Yes, upgrading for anyone with a 2010 makes little sense. You, however, you listed computers all the way back to 2007.

Contrary to previous reports (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061109011718.shtml), Justin Long writes on his website that he is still making 'Get a Mac' commercials for Apple (http://www.justinlong.net/ubbthreads7/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9155&page=1#Post9155). In addition, Long adds that he is currently filming some "holiday spots" for Apple. Readers may remember that Apple has previously done holiday-themed ads during their "switch" campaign with Will Ferrell as Santa Claus (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/11/20021125172305.shtml).

Only question. Why?
Some say Apple need to buy Netflix. Have those of you even considered what Netflix charges for monthly streaming?
$8
Apple will never let customers eat that much for so little. The day Apple buys Netflix, DVDs would stop, and streaming would go up to $30 a month.
Promised.
No point to buy it if company is restricted only to North America. Waste of money if on long run Apple will eat that anyway.

Why should anybody be "dragged into the modern age" simply over how they dress?
Because it's not simple. Don't pretend every woman who wears this crap does so voluntarily.
Don't you value personal freedom?
Yes, and that's why I think this is, on balance, a good law.

Purpoted leaked Leopard images/info at PowerPage:

I'm inclined to believe they're real, and I like them :) Expos for Safari tabs? It's like they read my mind. I hope they're real come Monday.
I posted this somewhere else, but here it is again. That page is fake. They take screen caps of the easy to photoshop features, yet just tell us the iChat interface is "different". Right.
FAKE.

w00t, keynote is streaming beautifully now. i <3 staying up.
I just tried it and it sucks. I'm getting tired of hearing the introduction over and over and over .... every time I have to restart the player when it stalls. I was thinking that the server should be not getting as many hits... but I forgot about people on the other side of the world that are just waking up.

So?
And everyone opposing the not-Mosque at not-Ground Zero is wrong, no matter what their religion is.
says you ...
I support no religions, they are all irrelevant to me ... and for arguments sake ... I say take it to another neighbourhood. NewYork is huge ... why 2 blocks from Ground Zero? ... ever hear the word compromise?

But, at least they include a HDMI cable and don't forget to tell you that you can't get full HD without it, eh Sony.

In which case, how about they tell us? I've been holding off on buying '06 since December because '07 is supposedly imminent. If they told us '07 definitely would not be out until the end of this year, I'd just get my credit card out and purchase '06, but I don't want to do that if '07 will be out in early May. I'm not asking for a detailed feature breakdown, just a quick comment on whether it's going to be out soon or at the same time as Leopard.
Sometimes Apple's stupid secrecy gets to me big time :(
Yeah, in this case I agree. Normally I don't get too worked up about product release-date weirdness--most of the time it's part of the fun--but they put a date on this one for consecutive years and then left us hanging. It seems pretty likely that the rumors of a name change and a Leopard-timed release will prove accurate, and that'll be cool in October or whenever...but that doesn't make the uncertainty of the first quarter of this year any less annoying.

Sadly, I remember reading an article a while back that said the number one import beer in the U.K. was...Budweiser. Not the Czech version, but the Anheuser-Busch version. There also stats showing how much their sales were going up, while sales of Guinness were down all around the U.K. It was very depressing. All those lovely beers to import from their own back yard, and Budweiser is the number one import? I haven't seen any numbers on the rest of the EU, though.
I... don't understand.
